Biography
Redifining modern day photography & Storytelling
My name is Waylon J. Christian, and my journey as a creative began on the quiet shores of Edisto Beach, South Carolina, where I spent my childhood. Surrounded by the beauty of the coast, I learned early on that art often reveals itself in the subtleties of everyday life.
In my adolescent years, my passion for storytelling first took shape through theatre, where I discovered the power of visual expression. That love soon found its way into filmmaking—I began creating short films and skits on my iPhone, driven by nothing more than curiosity and the urge to create.
After graduating, I worked in a small diner, saving every paycheck until I could purchase my first Nikon camera. That moment changed everything. What started as hobby photography quickly evolved into a pursuit of cinematic storytelling through stills and motion. Over time, I experimented, refined my vision, and developed a style that is uniquely my own—one defined by an eye for mood, atmosphere, and capturing the extraordinary in what others might overlook.
Now based in Rome, Georgia, I dedicate myself to pushing the bounds of creativity wherever I go—whether it’s through photography, film, or mixed creative projects. For me, art is not just about producing images, but about evoking feeling, telling stories, and uncovering meaning even in the most ordinary places.
2004-2018
the early stages of excellence
From an early age, I felt set apart from my peers, walking my path largely in solitude. In elementary and middle school, I spent much of my time immersed in imagination, crafting entire scenes and worlds in my mind with limitless possibilities. What began as daydreams eventually became the foundation of the creative vision I carry with me to this day.
2019-2022
Coming of age
Throughout high school, I immersed myself in theatre, my first real experience in bringing visual expression to life alongside peers who shared my passion. These years became a period of growth, as I worked on stepping out of my shell and channeling my surreal imagination into performance. At the same time, I began experimenting with other creative outlets—film and photography—using the only tool I had at the time: my phone. This period of exploration laid the foundation for the artistic journey that would soon follow.
2022
The next stage
After graduating high school in January 2022, I quickly shifted my focus to the realities of adulthood. I had just gotten my first car, and with it came new responsibilities—car payments, insurance, gas, a phone bill, and soon after, rent. To manage it all, I took my first job at a small, family-owned diner just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. During this time, I often retreated into my imagination as a way to cope with the sudden loss of the freedom I once had. After months of hard work and saving, I was finally able to purchase my first real camera—a Nikon Coolpix—marking the beginning of my creative journey.
2023
the period of darkness
2023 became one of the most defining and difficult years of my life. Just a month after the New Year, I lost my twin brother — and with him, a part of myself. My creativity seemed to vanish overnight, replaced by the daily struggle of coping with grief while adjusting to a new life in Rome, Georgia. It was a time of profound loneliness, when I turned to substances in an attempt to quiet my restless mind. In doing so, my imagination grew clouded, my possibilities felt bound, and all hope seemed lost. Yet even in this darkness, the experience reshaped my perspective and ultimately forged a strength within me that I had never known before.
2024
Forging a new light
With each challenge I overcame, my creativity slowly began to emerge from a void I once thought unreachable. I cleansed my system, set aside the substances I had relied on, and pushed forward with renewed purpose. Dusting off my camera, I pursued my ideas with confidence — this time, with a stronger foundation than ever before. My work grew more grounded, more intentional, and though often dark in tone, it carried an undeniable sense of purpose.
2025
carrying forward
With my mind healed and my creativity renewed, I began producing more work than ever before. My ideas flourished, and I felt unstoppable. Today, I carry a brighter light, a rediscovered sense of purpose, and an insatiable hunger to manifest my imagination into the world. After years of trial and error, I have found my style, and I approach each day as a new opportunity — a new idea, a new expression.
I am more confident in myself than ever before. Once I confined my creativity to a niche, but now I branch out into every avenue imaginable. My work knows no bounds, no limits, and cannot be defined by a single category. I am the niche — I am the essence of creation.
